HELENA, Mont. — In a move to cut costs and reduce duplication for member credit unions, the Montana Credit Union Network convened this week for its first-ever system-wide conference for corporates, CUSOs and service firms under a new umbrella designation.
The new "Montana Credit Union System Conference" meeting at a Helena hotel Monday through Thursday represents "a partnership that includes all of the statewide organizations that are owned by and serve Montana's credit unions," said a news release.
The four-day conference, said the release, is a product of "a relatively new partnership involving the state's two CUSOs, CUsource LLC and UniPro Systems LTD, plus Treasure State Corporate, the Montana Credit Union League and its League Service Group.

"While the five partner organizations have always supported each other, the Montana Credit Union System represents a direct effort to coordinate resources, products, and services to make sure that Montana's credit unions remain viable in the long-term," the release concluded.
A spokeswoman said over the years the problem has been in various service overlaps requiring CEOs and top management to participate in conferences with duplicate agendas. More than 140 are attending this week's meeting representing 54 Montana CUs.
