NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — Merrimack Valley Federal Credit Union staffers recently partnered with the Asociaci??n T?(C)cnica de Deportes in Lawrence to sponsor the Marathon Against Drugs.
The traditional event consists of walking around the Campagnone Common with winners receiving trophies and medals in different categories, inscribed with the name of the association and sponsor Merrimack Valley FCU.
"We are very grateful to the Merrimack Valley Federal Credit Union for their support," said Nelson Silvestre, president of Asociaci??n T?(C)cnica de Deportes. "Their $1,000 contribution helped pay for the trophies and medals and we can continue spreading our message of drug prevention to our children."

Silvestre and his group often speak to groups of adults and school children on drug-related issues.
"With our move to Lawrence, we want to see more involvement with our community," said MVFCU President/CEO Peter Matthews. "This is a great city and we are very happy to be part of it."
