ORLANDO, Fla. — CFE Federal Credit Union was recently recognized as a community partner during the Engaging in Excellence Book Club Awards Ceremony for having donated 100 completely refurbished computers.

The reading program is the brainchild of Congresswoman Corrine Brown, 3rd Congressional District in Florida.

The Engaging in Excellence program challenges students from Orange County Public Schools to read a specific number of books and to write reports on the books they read. Ninety-nine students completed the program and their achievement was celebrated during the special ceremony for program participants and sponsors.

In recognition of their accomplishments, each student was awarded a free refurbished computer.

Donating refurbished computers was only one activity of many that CFE undertook in support of education and programs that encourage students to read. In early summer, the credit union donated $20,000 to the "Let's Read Seminole" summer program, and earlier in the year donated $100,000 to Orange County Public Schools media centers to purchase books.
