WASHINGTON — With the addition of a new co-sponsor yesterday evening, the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (H.R. 1537) has tied last Congress' co-sponsorship of 125.

Congressman Norm Dicks (D-Wash.) signed on yesterday to help credit unions tie the previous record. Credit union lobbyists have said more co-sponsors are expected shortly.

CURIA will undoubtedly be a focus of next week's Congressional Caucus hosted by NAFCU and the league's more than a dozen scheduled Hike the Hills throughout September. The bill will create a risk-based capital framework for credit unions and provide some regulatory relief measures as well as enhancements.
