JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In a move that bucks what has become somewhat of a trend, Fidelity National Information Services, the largest processor of credit union card transactions, has picked up the card accounts of the MaPS or Marion and Polk Schools Credit Union.
In general, since it is the largest processor of CU card accounts, news of shifts in processing have tended to be away from FIS, an executive with the firm acknowledged.
Ron Kishen, a senior vice president for the processor said that signing the MaPS CU was a sign that the firm was refocusing its attention on helping credit unions manage and grow their card portfolios as efficiently and well as other larger issuers do.
“I think that when we are able to sit down with the more advanced analytic tools we have now, we are able to make a strong case for a credit union keeping control of its portfolio and turning it into a very profitable asset,” Kishen said.
