DALLAS — The Credit Union of Texas has appointed John B. Lederer as president/CEO, the board announced Aug. 24.

A 29-year veteran of in the financial services industry, Lederer had served as interim CEO of the $1 billion credit union for the past year. Lederer succeeds Kenneth Sorrels, who left the credit union on Aug. 28, 2006 after being at the helm for 10 years.

Lederer joined Credit Union of Texas in 1996 as general counsel. Prior to that, he was with the Texas Credit Union League for 18 years where served in a legal capacity, managed the governmental affairs area and served as interim president/CEO for one year.
