PORTLAND, Maine — Tom DeFrank, an award-winning political journalist and author seeded second among White House reporters, has agreed to speak at the annual Maine Credit Union League's Legislative Forum on Sept. 18.

DeFrank was one of three who gave eulogies at the funeral of President Gerald Ford and has covered every president since Richard Nixon, interviewing each of them a number of times. He is expected to discuss the important role of politics in successful organizations and offer a preview of the 2008 elections.

"Tom DeFrank is considered one of the top political journalists in the country and his 37 years of experience of covering politics is remarkable. To have someone who is a frequent guest on all of the political news shows will be a real thrill," MCUL President John Murphy said.
