STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. — A man seeking to install a camera on an ATM in a way that would let him skim or collect cardholders' personal identification numbers apparently forgot the camera was on and left the police with his own picture.

Alert users of the ATM noticed the camera on the ATM and notified the police. It is unclear whether the camera actually managed to capture any numbers. Police describe the suspect as a white man between 47 and 55 years old with white and gray hair, wearing wire-rimmed glasses and a baseball cap.

The police are circulating the photo.
