MADISON, Wis. — Great Wisconsin Credit Union CEO Kim Sponem was recently singled out for her work in launching a youth member independent credit union.

Sponem was featured in Good Woman-Good Works column of Wisconsin Woman magazine for launching and supporting Save To Achieve Results Credit Union at the Boys and Girls Club. Children seven years old and older can start an account with as little as one dollar and build it up as high as $500.

Created to teach Club members how to be more financially savvy, STAR CU is Sponem's dream, which a collaborative effort between Great Wisconsin CU and Summit Credit Union made a reality. The two credit unions cover all operating costs estimated at some $30,000 annually.
