WASHINGTON — Freshman Congressman Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) signed on as a co-sponsor to the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (H.R. 1537) in the waning hours of Congress prior to the August recess.
With the addition of Sestak, total co-sponsorship of the credit union modernization and relief legislation is 120 lawmakers. According to the Pennsylvania Credit Union Associations' Life is a Highway electronic newsletter, Sestak announced his co-sponsorship at a special meeting of the Delaware County Chapter. Pennsylvania has six of its 19 lawmakers signed as co-sponsors, including primary sponsor PaulKanjorski (D-Pa.).
Co-sponsors cannot be added while Congress is not in session; the recess is slated from Aug. 6 through Aug. 31.
