SAN FRANCISCO — The $29 billion Navy Federal Credit Union is theonly CU to make a list of credit card issuers that provide the bestprevention detection and resolution of credit card fraud.

The list was prepared by Javelin research and appears in 2007Card Issuers' Identity Safety Scorecard.

“Card issuers have a golden opportunity to increase loyalty andretention, and strengthen relationships and their brand reputation,by giving consumers simple identity fraud prevention tools theylike to use,” said James Van Dyke, president of Javelin Strategy& Research in a prepared statement announcing the report.“Identity fraud is a major pain point for consumers and can damagethe relationship between the consumer and the card issuer.”

Navy Federal's Platinum MasterCard was named among the top fivesafest card issuers in the report, a designation it shared withBank of America's Visa Platinum card, the Blue card from AmericanExpress, the Discover Platinum card from Discover and FirstNational Bank of Omaha's Platinum Edition Visa (these two tied forthird on the list), and Citibank's Citi Platinum Select.
