ALEXANDRIA, Va. — NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson and NASCUSChairman Linda Jekel signed an agreement today reiterating thecontinued commitment of the federal and state regulators to worktogether to ensure the safety and soundness of all federallyinsured, state-chartered credit unions.

NCUA and NASCUS collaborated on revisions to the Document ofCooperation last signed in 1998. “The document solidifies andclarifies the elements, tools and interaction NASCUS and NCUA useday after day to ensure our nation's credit unions remain safe,secure financial institutions, ready and able to serve theirmillions of members nationwide,” Johnson commented.

Jekel, director of the Washington Division of Credit Unions,added, “This agreement demonstrates the value of a cooperativerelationship to the health of federally insured, state-charteredcredit unions and to the insurance fund.”
