MIRAMAR, Fla. -- Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union has tapped CUNA's "Little Guy" to drive home the message that credit unions exist to serve the real life little guys.

"These are hard working teachers, construction workers, and small business owners who rely on us to help them achieve their financial goals," said Eastern Financial Senior Vice President Gary Lanier. "Banks are spending millions and working overtime to persuade Congress to scrap the benefits we provide. We want the Little Guy campaign to draw attention to this fact so that our members mobilize and joint the fight to protect what they have."

The credit union adopted Little Guy from CUNA who first introduced him this past spring in an advertising campaign aimed at members of Congress. The intent, according to CUNA, was to "poke fun at bankers and their attempt to confuse consumers--and Congress--about what credit unions really do for people."

Eastern Financial's "Little Guy" received a mini Florida makeover and can be seen sporting light blue shorts, a yellow and pink flamingo shirt, beach sandals and socks, holding a sign that says "I Love My Credit Union."

Character-shaped comment cards inviting members to write a note to their legislators supporting credit unions have been made available at all 32 Eastern Financial branches statewide. The cards will then be collected and sent in bulk to Capitol Hill. Members are also invited to donate money to CUNA.
