SHREWSBURY, N.J. — It's no surprise to anyone following corporate credit unions that there are fewer of them every year.
The trend isn't slowing. There are currently four mergers in play: WesCorp/VolCorp, WesCorp/SunCorp, Southwest/Northwest and Members United/Central CU Fund. The number of corporates has dropped from 42 in 1990 to 29 today, with the potential for four more to be merged away if those deals go through.
