ONTARIO, Calif. — CO-OP Financial Services has named William Butler, the president and CEO of the $32 million Ohio Healthcare Federal Credit Union as the winner of its first annual Credit Union for Kids Leadership Award.
The award recognizes individuals for outstanding service to the Children Miracle Network's Credit Unions for Kids program. CO-OP made the award at its recent annual meeting.
Butler contributed hundreds of hours to founding and organizing "Ohio Credit Unions, Marching Miles for Miracle Kids," a 19-day Children's Miracle Network "March-a-thon" relay walk across Ohio, from Columbus to Cincinnati, CO-OP said.

This nearly 200-mile journey, which culminated at the site of the Ohio Credit Union League's conference last month, stopped at children's hospitals and participating credit union branches along the route to demonstrate the credit union industry's "people helping people" philosophy. The group of almost 200 CEOs, employees and volunteers raised per-mile pledges that amounted to $81,000 in donations.
"I would like to thank CO-OP for this very special honor," said Butler. "CO- OP's national corporate sponsorship of Champions Across America truly provided the inspiration for the Ohio Marching Miles event."
"CO-OP is especially proud to present this award to Bill," said Stan Hollen, president/CEO CO-OP Financial Services. "For the past year and a half, he has essentially been the day-to-day 'go-to guy' for Marching Miles, all while running a thriving credit union specializing in serving healthcare professionals throughout eight Ohio counties."
