HONOLULU — TraceSecurity Inc. has been signed to a four-year deal to provide HawaiiUSA FCU with a variety of training, assessment and testing solutions.

Hawaii's largest credit union had been using a local vendor but decided to turn elsewhere when that vendor became its firewall provider.

The contract with the Baton Rouge, La.-based firm includes security training, annual on-site vulnerability assessments, annual external penetration tests and quarterly external vulnerability assessments, as well as helping to ensure regulatory compliance.

"While our IT staff was aware of some of the risks we might be exposed to, TraceSecurity really helped us elevate our security management program," says Jason Ishihara, an IT network

specialist for the $847 million CU.

"Our staff has gained a new perspective on the methods and scams that can be utilized to allow unauthorized parties to gain access to confidential data. As an added service we have added a 'Member Tips' section to our site to keep our HawaiiUSA members up-to-date and informed about ways they can protect themselves, and to warn them of potential threats," Ishihara says.

For instance, the site (www.hawaiiusafcu.com) currently prominently displays a warning with information about a phish directed at the credit union and its members.

TraceSecurity (www.tracesecurity.com) has more than 500 clients and includes in its specialties social engineering training and testing, including tactics such as sending staffers posing as delivery people, for instance, into a bank or credit union office and then showing how easily that person could gain access to confidential data.
