SALT LAKE CITY — Mountain America Credit Union President and CEO Gordon Dames has been inducted into the Utah League of Credit Union's Hall of Fame.
Created in 2001, the Hall of Fame boasts only nine inductees. Some of the qualifications Hall of Famers share are leadership in maintaining the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People"; visionary direction; active involvement in state and/or national credit union movement; volunteer community service and a minimum of 20 years of credit union service.
"Gordon Dames embodies the finest principles of the credit union movement," says Scott Simpson, president/CEO of the ULCU. "His leadership and vision will continue to have influence for years to come."

Floyd Tanner, chairman of the Board of Directors for Mountain America Credit Union agrees with Simpson and says this about the CEO, "Gordon possesses many of the qualities of a great leader. He is a team builder and a team player. From the very beginning of his administration at Mountain America he had a vision for the success of the credit union. And he was able to convey that vision, not in a dictatorial manner, but by empowering people and then letting them do their jobs. Whenever mistakes are made, rather than criticize or punish, he usually handles the situation by asking one question, 'What have you learned from the situation?'"
