NEW YORK — The S&P 500 rallied to a new record close on May 30, seven years since its prior record close of 1527.46 on March 24, 2000.

The S&P 500 gained 12.12 to 1530.23, surging over its record-closing level in the last hour of the trading day on May 30 and is now up 7.9% year to date.

Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 111.74 to 13633.08 on May 30, a new record of its own, and its 25th record close so far this year. The blue-chip index is now 9.4% higher since the end of 2006.
