PHOENIX — The Arizona Credit Union League announced today that it has chosen Scott Earl, CUNA vice president of league relations and the former president/CEO of the Utah League of Credit Unions, as its top new staff manager.

Earl, whose appointment is effective Aug. 1, succeeds Gary Plank, who is retiring at the end of July. Plank is also stepping down as chairman of the World Council of Credit Unions after completing his term.

After leaving the Utah League CEO slot in 2003, Earl headed up the Credit Unions for Kids program for Children's Miracle Network later joining CUNA serving in the league relations post and heading up disaster preparedness activities for CUNA as part of its national aid effort for CU victims of Hurricane Katrina.

"We look forward to working with Scott who is an experienced lobbyist and brings with him a wealth of knowledge in league operations," said Linda Dhaemers, league chairman. "I know he will be well received in Arizona and has set building relationships with our credit unions and legislators as a top priority."

Earl began his CU career in 1982 as marketing director for the Utah League and was named president/CEO of the Utah league and its subsidiary the Credit Union Service Corporation in 1991.
