WASHINGTON -- Another federal lawmaker has added her name to thelist of co-sponsors for the Credit Union Regulatory ImprovementsAct (H.R. 1537) bringing the total to 83.
Long-time credit union supporter Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-Ohio)returned this Congress to co-sponsor CURIA again. Also adding theirnames late last week were Congressmen Timothy Walberg (R-Mich.), afreshman, and repeat co-sponsor Bob Filner (D-Calif.).
CURIA would expand credit union business lending authorities,create a risk-based capital framework, tighten the requirements forconverting to a mutual savings bank, and specify that all federalcredit union charter types are permitted to adopt underservedareas.
