WASHINGTON -- Another federal lawmaker has added her name to the list of co-sponsors for the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (H.R. 1537) bringing the total to 83.
Long-time credit union supporter Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-Ohio) returned this Congress to co-sponsor CURIA again. Also adding their names late last week were Congressmen Timothy Walberg (R-Mich.), a freshman, and repeat co-sponsor Bob Filner (D-Calif.).
CURIA would expand credit union business lending authorities, create a risk-based capital framework, tighten the requirements for converting to a mutual savings bank, and specify that all federal credit union charter types are permitted to adopt underserved areas.
