PASADENA, Calif. — Wescom Credit Union marked an important milestone recently as it welcomed its 300,000th member.

The milestone was celebrated at Wescom's Encinitas in-store branch where its newest member, Yukiko Mori, was awarded a $300 Wescom Visa gift card in a recognition ceremony. Mori opened her account after she saw an advertisement for Wescom in the San Diego Union-Tribune.

In the last three years the $3.8 billion CU has increased its membership an average of 12% per year–including a 14.5% increase in 2004.

"Reaching 300,000 members is a great milestone for Wescom," said Darren Williams, president/CEO of the CU. "Over 60% of new members are referred to the credit union by current members. It's clear that the level of service that Wescom provides, along with our expanding number of branches and new Sunday hours, is well-received by members and potential members."
