WASHINGTON–As an annual rite of passage, The Hill newspaper names its picks for the top lobbyists in Washington.

NAFCU Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Dan Berger and CUNA President/CEO Dan Mica are veterans to the list and this year was no exception. The decisions are made based on discussions with members of Congress, aides, and other lobbyists.

The May 3 issue of The Hill said of Berger, "The former banking lobbyist is credit unions' not-so-secret weapon." Mica "will push a relaxation of credit union regulations."

Even with this firepower, credit unions still need to keep an eye out for the bankers on the Hill. America's Community Bankers Vice President of Government Affairs Greg Mesack also made the list, as did American Bankers Association President Ed Yingling.
