WASHINGTON — The Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (H.R. 1537) is gaining steam as five more lawmakers add their names for a total of 68 co-sponsors.

Freshman Steve Kagen (D-Wis.) signed on, as did returning co-sponsors Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D-S.D.), Ted Poe (R-Texas), and Michael Honda (D-Calif.).

The current 68 co-sponsors is just one behind from the total number of co-sponsors garnered for the bill during the 108th Congress (2003-2004). CURIA was first introduced Dec. 2, 2003.
