MADISON, Wis. — The Freedom First Federal Credit Union/VirginiaTech Memorial Fund will receive donations from CUNA and CUNA MutualGroup.

The fund was established by Freedom First to support therecovery and renewal process following the recent tragic shootingat Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

CUNA Mutual said it will donate $10,000 and CUNA will contribute$5,000.

“Our thoughts are with the students, faculty and families ofthose affected by this senseless tragedy,” said Jeff Post,president/CEO of CUNA Mutual. “We hope this contribution will helpfacilitate the healing process.”

The memorial fund will be directed toward the college's HokieSpirit Memorial Fund and used to cover expenses, including griefcounseling, memorials, communication and comfort expenses andincidental needs.

“Certainly the tradition and hallmark of the credit unionmovement has been 'people helping people,'” said Dan Mica, CUNApresident/CEO. “At CUNA, we hope that this contribution will serveas a reminder that the movement is committed to these values, whilesharing them with the Hokie community as it begins healing andrecovering.”

Freedom First FCU has two branches on Virginia Tech's campus andhas served the college since 1986.
