PASADENA, Calif. — Credit union technology veteran John Best has been promoted to the newly created position of vice president and chief technology officer at Wescom Credit Union. Best joined Wescom about three years ago to work with the $3.8 billion CU's tech CUSO, Wescom Resources Group, and had been its director of technology. In his new position, he will be lead all product planning and development for WRG and manage its implementation team. Kevin Sarber, WRG president, says Best has been instrumental in helping WRG grow its client list to more than 100 credit unions, providing a range of solutions that include bill pay, online banking, disaster recovery services and Symitar key hosting.

He also has been active in the development of the parent credit union's online banking platform and multi-factor authentication system.

Best, who now joins Wescom's executive team and reports to Sarber, came to WRG from GTE Federal Credit Union and will continue to be based in Tampa, Fla.
