SAN DIEGO -- If your credit union has a membership growth success story, Dick Ensweiler wants to hear from you.

The president of the Texas Credit Union League was featured as the general session speaker at CUNA's HR/TD Council Summit Monday, and announced that he will head a CUNA task force dedicated to improving credit union membership growth.

"Tomorrow, I have a teleconference meeting with the two CUNA staff people assigned to me. We'll talk about how we're going to go about this, and who we know that can serve on a task force committee," Ensweiler said.

The former CUNA Board Chair said he'd like to hear success stories from credit unions that have posted significant membership gains. Credit unions are encouraged to e-mail Ensweiler at [email protected].

"If we've got the best thing going, why don't we have more members? If you take indirect lending out of the equation, we're losing members every year. Why? We need to find out," he said.
