WASHINGTON — Co-sponsorship for the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act continues to grow and more are waiting in the wings.
On Friday, April 20, four more lawmakers added their names to the list of CURIA co-sponsors. New supporters included Representatives Hilda Solis (D-Calif.); Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.); Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.); and Thomas Allen (D-Maine), bringing the total co-sponsors with primary sponsor Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.) up to 57.
CUNA Vice President of Legislative Affairs Dean Sagar said there are a handful of lawmakers waiting to be officially signed up as well.

Last Congress, the bill had 125 co-sponsors. Credit union lobby groups have been working to add as many co-sponsors as possible for a strong show of support to expand some credit union powers and provide additional regulatory relief.
