VACAVILLE, Calif. — Travis Credit Union is making high school seniors aware of all their college financing options.
The credit union teamed up with the Solano County Superintendent of Schools to help distribute a Cal Grant DVD. The DVD entitled, Travis Credit Union presents An Introduction to Cal Grants, explains to local high school students the benefits of applying for Cal Grants. "We hope that the Solano County Schools will find the DVD and publication helpful in providing additional resources and financial choices for college-bound students," said Travis CU President/CEO Patsy Van Ouwerkerk. "We look forward to launching another Cal Grant presentation in January, 2008." In 2006 Travis CU hosted California Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante's Cal Grant Presentation in partnership with the College Opportunity and Outreach Program. It was the first visit from the Lieutenant Governor's office to Solano County and the largest Cal Grant presentation given since the inception of the program. The key goals of COOP are to develop a new state tax credit program to help low and middle class working families better afford college and to provide information on Cal Grants "free money" to local communities across the state.
Enclosed along with the Cal Grant DVD was a copy of Travis Credit Union's quarterly publication mailed to TCU members, Smart Money Matters, which focuses on financial literacy for children and adults.
