SAN ANTONIO — Security Service Federal Credit Union is looking to get the 411 on younger members to help develop new innovative services and programs that would appeal to the group.
The credit union is currently looking for 10 students between the ages of 14 and 18 to participate in its first annual Youth Advisory Council.
More than simply soliciting the chosen teens' opinions, SSFCU will be looking to the students to help co-create a new generation of financial products and services for children, youth and young adults during a 10-month period.

In addition to participation incentives throughout the year, at the end of the term, each qualifying student will receive a $200 stipend.
"High school students are full of intellectual capital and creativity, and they already have experience producing and participating in what they choose to consume via online channels. We are excited about giving them the opportunity to have direct input to our product development process," said John Worthington, SSFCU senior vice president and spokesman. "This is a natural progression for our work with youth–moving from our training and educating them to empowering them to teach us new things about their generation."
Once chosen, the 10 students will attend four meetings at SSFCU's corporate headquarters and at least one youth event sponsored by the credit union.
Participants will also be asked to complete surveys, perform Internet research, write short articles and correspond via e-mail. Slated projects include branding the new group, redesigning the high school service center of the future and co-creating new youth products.
