ROCK HILL, S.C. — A Founders Federal Credit Union branch locatedat Ebenezer Avenue Elementary School is doing its part to encouragesavings among students here.

Offering students a mix of awards and incentives, the branchfocuses on teaching kids the value of money and the importance ofsavings.

Students who join the credit union receive a free gift withtheir initial deposit. When a student deposits $25 they join theDaniel the Spaniel Kids Savings Club and receive a free customizedt-shirt. When a student's deposits reach $50, they receive anotherfree gift. And, at the end of the year, the class with the mostmoney saved receives a free ice cream party.

The in-school branch, run by instructors at the school is openeach Monday during the school year so students can make deposits totheir accounts.

“This is a unique way for students to learn the value of savingmoney,” said Bruce Brumfield, president/CEO of Founders FCU. “Theincentives given along the way, allow the students to set severalsavings goals.”
