SAN FRANCISCO — McAfee Inc. and RSA plan to work together to boost online banking security.

The companies say they're integrating McAfee's consumer desktop security products with the RSA Adaptive Authentication solution, allowing financial institutions to provide more comprehensive protection for online transactions.

McAfee's Internet Security Suite and other products are used by millions of consumers, and more than 100 million Internet users are protected by RSA's user-authentication solutions through credit unions, banks and major ISPs.

"This strategic partnership raises the bar for online banking protection by leveraging input from desktop applications in a server authentication solution. We see great potential in expanding this planned joint offering in multiple ways that will benefit both of our customers–the financial institutions and McAfee's users," said Christopher Young, vice president and general manager of consumer solutions at RSA, The Security Division of EMC (www.rsa.com).
