NEWPORT, Calif. — Once again Honda Federal Credit Union CEO Jim Updike and a credit union crew are gearing up to hit the high seas to raise money for the Richard Myles Johnson Foundation, which promotes credit union education and financial literacy.

Richard Myles Johnson, known to many as Dick Johnson, was a pioneer in the corporate credit union network and long-time CEO of WesCorp.

For the past five years the all-credit union crew has chartered a boat and sailed in the Newport Beach to Ensenada, Mexico International Yacht Race. Celebrating its 60th anniversary, the event is an annual 125-mile competition that attracts more entries than any other international yacht race.

This year the team has chartered a Beneteau 430 named "Mon Soleil". The 43-foot yacht includes three staterooms and complete facilities. In a bid to raise a record-breaking amount for the Foundation, the team is raffling off a chance for two people to join the team for a three-day sail from San Diego to Catalina Island and Newport Beach. Each raffle entry requires a $25 donation to the RMJ Foundation.

Over the years the team has helped raise a total of $45,000 for RMJ Foundation. All the expenses for the race are borne by the crew leaving 100% of donations going to the RMJ Foundation.
