ALEXANDRIA, Va. — NCUA Board Member Gigi Hyland announced that last week, the agency's Outreach Task Force that she chairs held its first meeting at NCUA's headquarters.

The 13 members met each other and proceeded with preliminary discussions of the recommendations included in the agency's Member Service Assessment Pilot and the Government Accountability Office's report on credit union service and credit union executive compensation. The group talked about "the broad nature of the task force and its mission," Hyland's Senior Policy Advisor Gary Kohn said. The task force also discussed the town hall meetings and he said an announcement of some dates would be coming "soon."

"This was a productive first meeting," Hyland commented. "Rapport was quickly established and the members promptly began their work to analyze and evaluate the MSAP recommendations as well as evaluate the agency's current role and efforts with respect to credit union service to their members, including financial literacy and alternatives to predatory lending practices."
