MARGATE, Fla. — City County Credit Union of Fort Lauderdale is reaching out to the Caribbean community in Broward County.

Partnering with Caribbean Vibes, Inc., a South Florida public relations firm that specializes in the Caribbean market, the credit union has launched a special initiative to meet the needs of the community. From offering special products and providing educational services, to the opening of new branches for added convenience, CCCU plans to better serve this market.

Another aspect of the program focuses on becoming more involved in the community. CCCU plans to develop mutually beneficial alliances with community businesses, professional and social organizations, and churches.

"CCCU is not just a financial institution, we are like family," said CCCU Vice President of Marketing Sandra Spence. "We believe we have the products, services, and family atmosphere that the Caribbean community desires in their banking relationship."

So far the credit union has sponsored several events including the 16th annual Black & White Ball, which supports Florida Memorial University, a UNCF Member Institution and local community organizations such as: Community Alliance for Family & Career Development, Community Family Center, Caribbean Friends Cares, Inc., Lauderdale Lakes Alzheimer's Foundation, NW Federated Women's Club and the YMCA.

In addition, CCCU participated in the Second Annual 'Ole Time Christmas and Street Dance presented by the Partners For Youth Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that raises money for scholarships for African-American students in need of assistance.
