MADISON, Wis. — CUNA Mutual Group's financial strength rating has been reaffirmed as “A” or “Excellent” by ratings agency A.M. Best, the company said on Jan. 10.

A.M. Best assigned the “A” rating to the principal companies of CUNA Mutual Group, including CUNA Mutual Insurance Society and its two affiliate life companies, CUNA Mutual Life Insurance Co., and MEMBERS Life Insurance Co., as well as CUMIS Insurance Society, Inc., a property and casualty subsidiary.

In listing the company's outlook as “Stable,” A.M. Best recognized the company's “excellent capitalization and historical operating profitability, while maintaining a conservative reserve position,” CUNA Mutual said.

“Building on our financial strength and enhancing products and services we deliver to credit union customers are key components to building the 'new CUNA Mutual,'” said Jeff Post, CUNA Mutual president/CEO. “Credit unions need a strong business partner who is committed to their success as the financial services marketplace becomes even more competitive.”
