TORONTO, Ontario — David E. Phillips is the new president/CEO of Credit Union Central of Canada effective Dec. 1.

Phillips had been serving in an interim role since January. Credit Union Central of Canada is the national trade association and central finance facility for credit unions in Canada. It serves 504 credit unions and affiliated caisses populaires with combined assets of nearly $91 billion and 4.9 million members.

"David's in-depth knowledge of financial sector policy issues and experience in the credit union system represents the kind of solid leadership our board is seeking at this crucial time in the financial services industry," said Michael Tarr, board chairperson of Credit Union Central of Canada.
