AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Credit Union League reported last week that 97% of the state and federal candidates it supported for re-election won.
Of the 176 state and federal candidates receiving contributions from the Texas Credit Union League in the mid-term elections, 171 won their races and just five lost. "We are obviously very pleased with these results," TCUL President/CEO Dick Ensweiler said. "It reinforces to our members that we have the judgment to support viable candidates for office, who are not only credit union-friendly, but have strong chances for re-election."
The league had a 100% success rate at the federal level, backing 31 winners including eight CURIA co-sponsors.

Executive Director of TCUL PAC Gretchen Ziegler pointed out, "We raise half a million dollars every two years in Texas, and that is a tremendous accomplishment. Credit unions should be proud to know that we then follow up by contributing that money to successful candidates, helping to elect credit union friendly lawmakers."
