CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bank of America and Aetna are joining forces to bring out a credit card that will reward cardholders for their medical and health-related purchases. Only Aetna insurance members will be able to get the card at first.

The new card will offer rewards of one point per dollar spent for nonmedical purchases and three points per dollar spent on some health related expenses. The card will also offer discounts on things like gym equipment, blood pressure monitors and bikes.

In addition to these features, Aetna and Bank of America plan to introduce additional health-focused reward opportunities. The credit card is currently available to Aetna's Small Group customers and will be expanded to other customer groups in 2007.
