WASHINGTON -- CUNA President/CEO Dan Mica, a former Democraticcongressman from Florida, provided his views on the electionoutcome and its impact on the legislature in two post-electionarticles that appeared in USA Today. According to Mica, in a storyon congressional gridlock, the next two years are just about 2008."America thinks the elections were over yesterday, but we just hada...break from commercials," he told USA Today. He predictedCongress would come back for a brief lame duck session and go home.Another USA Today election follow-up story quoted Mica on theexpected new House Financial Service Committee Chairman BarneyFrank (D-Mass.). "He's one of the best I've ever seen," Mica said."I would never want to debate him on the other side." Frank hasbeen voted one of the smartest--and funniest--members on CapitolHill by Washington publications.
