WASHINGTON — CUNA President/CEO Dan Mica, a former Democratic congressman from Florida, provided his views on the election outcome and its impact on the legislature in two post-election articles that appeared in USA Today. According to Mica, in a story on congressional gridlock, the next two years are just about 2008. “America thinks the elections were over yesterday, but we just had a…break from commercials,” he told USA Today. He predicted Congress would come back for a brief lame duck session and go home. Another USA Today election follow-up story quoted Mica on the expected new House Financial Service Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.). “He’s one of the best I’ve ever seen,” Mica said. “I would never want to debate him on the other side.” Frank has been voted one of the smartest–and funniest–members on Capitol Hill by Washington publications.
