WASHINGTON — Organization of American States Staff Federal Credit Union President Carlos Calderon, co-founder of Network of Latino Credit Union Professionals, endorsed John Herrera to serve on CUNA's board.

Herrera serves as vice president of Latino-Hispanic Affairs at Self-Help Credit Union in Durham, N.C. and chairman of Latino Community Credit Union, one of the fastest growing start-up community development credit unions in the country.

"John Herrera is a tireless and passionate proponent of credit unions, especially small ones," Calderon said. "He is an example of a credit union volunteer with a proven record of getting results. His involvement and innovative approach in forming a Latino credit union in North Carolina is an example that shows he will put his heart and soul into a project to make it successful. He believes in credit unions and how important small ones are to the movement and to every member they serve."
