NEW YORK — Major League Baseball has extended and broadened its relationship with MasterCard through the 2010 season, MLB announced today.

In addition to its sponsorship of MLB at the league level, MasterCard also sponsors 17 individual clubs, including both the two New York and two Chicago franchises.

The brand announced 12 ballparks are now using its Paypass card technology that allows cardholders to make purchases of less than $25 without having to sign for them and that MasterCard will sponsor MBL media events.

MasterCard has been a key sponsor of baseball since 1997.
