ARLINGTON, Va. — NAFCU recently announced the promotion of two of its staffers while one lobbyist is making the move to CUNA. Debbie Kwon-Moore, former associate director of legislative affairs for NAFCU, is no longer with the association, NAFCU Public Relations Manager Rebecca Somers confirmed. She is expected to begin shortly as a lobbyist for CUNA. “CUNA had been seeking someone with solid credit union and congressional experience to help fill out our legislative affairs staff; Ms. Moore fills the bill on both accounts. We look forward to her joining the CUNA staff,” CUNA Senior Vice President of Legislative Affairs John Magill said.

Both trade associations have experienced some turnover of late, particularly in their lobbying staffs. Last November, NAFCU Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel Bill Donovan left the organization after 26 years to join the law firm of Venable LLP. Just last month, Director of Political Affairs Murray Chanow announced his departure for Nextel. On CUNA’s end, top lobbyists John McKechnie and Gary Kohn left late last year to join NCUA.
