ARLINGTON, Va. — NAFCU recently announced the promotion of two of its staffers while one lobbyist is making the move to CUNA. Debbie Kwon-Moore, former associate director of legislative affairs for NAFCU, is no longer with the association, NAFCU Public Relations Manager Rebecca Somers confirmed. She is expected to begin shortly as a lobbyist for CUNA. "CUNA had been seeking someone with solid credit union and congressional experience to help fill out our legislative affairs staff; Ms. Moore fills the bill on both accounts. We look forward to her joining the CUNA staff," CUNA Senior Vice President of Legislative Affairs John Magill said.
Both trade associations have experienced some turnover of late, particularly in their lobbying staffs. Last November, NAFCU Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel Bill Donovan left the organization after 26 years to join the law firm of Venable LLP. Just last month, Director of Political Affairs Murray Chanow announced his departure for Nextel. On CUNA's end, top lobbyists John McKechnie and Gary Kohn left late last year to join NCUA.
NAFCU's Dillon Shea has been promoted to director of political affairs to fill Chanow's spot; Shea previously served as an associate director of legislative affairs. "Dillon has significant campaign experience a wealth of Capitol Hill contacts and background in FEC compliance," NAFCU President and CEO Fred Becker explained. "He's going to oversee the PAC and its grassroots activity, which has done a marvelous job and I'm confident we'll continue to move forward under his leadership."

He will continue his work on the legislative front while now managing NAFCU/PAC. Shea previously worked for Congresswoman Darlene Hooley (D-Ore.) and currently attends law school at George Washington University in his spare time.
Additionally, Chris Sanyer has been promoted to the newly created post of director of member benefits and NAFCU Services Corporation liaison. "In this position, she'll be a staff director whose membership, marketing, and credit union experience will be directed at helping NAFCU members understand the benefits of NAFCU and our wholly-owned subsidiary, NAFCU Services Corporation," Becker said, "and its preferred partners as they the preferred partners strive to provide solutions to our members."
"We're delighted that Chris is joining the NAFCU Services team," NAFCU Services President David C. Frankil said. "Our mission is to identify market-leading solutions that help NAFCU members address everyday operational and growth issues, and Chris' experience and high energy will be invaluable."
Sanyer previously served as associate director of membership. She has nearly 20 years experience in the credit union movement and, just prior to joining NAFCU, had been the marketing manager and compliance officer at NAPUS Federal Credit Union in Alexandria, Va. –[email protected]
