MONTEBELLO, Calif. — Teachers in the Montebello Unified School District can receive relief from education budget constraints thanks to a new 0% School Supplies Loan introduced by Camino Federal Credit Union. The loan allows full-time district teachers who are members of Camino FCU to borrow up to $500 until the end of the school year with no interest. "We appreciate teachers who go the extra mile for their students, and we're glad to do what we can to help them," said Robert Chaffino, president/CEO of Camino FCU. Chaffino envisions teachers using the loans to purchase items for the classroom including digital cameras, supplies for art projects, computer software, educational programs on DVDs, as well as for field trips and other educational endeavors. Previously known as Montebello Schools Federal Credit Union, Camino FCU has served Montebello's educational community since 1941. Each year, it awards scholarships to outstanding seniors at district schools, and presents recognition awards to MUSD employees of the year.
