PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Federal Credit Union has helped locals jam this summer by once again sponsoring the Pennypack Music Festival's Summer Concert Series.

Not only did PFCU donate $1,000 to the Pennypack Music Festival Board, but it also designed and handled printing and costs for fliers and concert schedules, which staffers helped distribute at festival concerts and throughout the Philadelphia area.

PFCU volunteers have also been on hand at most of the festival shows throughout the summer, speaking with community members about credit unions and handing out fun free gifts to children and adults alike from bottled water and yo-yos, to Frisbees and bracelets.

"These concerts blow me away–thousands of people gather at Pennypack Park every other Wednesday for these great shows," said President/CEO James McAneney. "A lot of people think that Center City is the only place for quality entertainment, but the Pennypack Park Festival throws the Northeast into the mix."

In 2000, a group of Northeast Philadelphia civic and business leaders formed it to revive the Pennypack Park Festival, a Northeast cultural institution that founder Ed Kelly led to success from the 1970s to the early 1990s. In 2001, the corporation was officially renamed the Pennypack Park Festival. After restoring the band shell in the spring of 2001, concerts began again that summer.
