BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union has teamed up with Bellevue Hospital to help ensure members are not only fiscally fit, but are physically fit as well.

The credit union has hosted free health screenings at its headquarters.

The typical talk of portfolio analysis and investment advice gave way to glucose or cholesterol level analysis and medical advice.

Over 130 people made use of the free community service prompting PSFCU to host a second free screening on Sept. 17.

Medical professionals from Bellevue conducted a variety of tests, as well as provided free medical advice on general health, proper diets, smoking cessation, and health insurance plans.

This marks the second time that the PSFCU has partnered with Bellevue Hospital to provide such an essential service to its members and the community.

A grant from the credit union was used to provide informative brochures and pamphlets in Polish. In addition, Polish-speaking personnel were on hand at the health fair.

"This is just another example of how seriously we take our responsibility to ensure the welfare of our community," said PSFCU CEO Alicja Malecka. "Something as simple as a free health screening can make a world of difference in the lives of many of our members and neighbors. We're proud to be active in our community and we'll always look for ways to be of service."
