ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Last week NCUA announced that registration had opened for its Oct. 3 Access Across America Economic Empowerment Summit.

The Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel in Norfolk, Va. is the site of the summit. Discussion panels emphasize federal resources that are available for credit unions and will cover data security and consumer protection; lending and savings best practices; health savings accounts; and serving the military and underserved communities. Representatives from federal agencies, nonprofit entities, and credit union leaders from the District of Columbia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia credit unions and the Virginia Credit Union League will serve as panelists. A networking luncheon will also be provided.

"I look forward to hosting NCUA's first Access Across America summit held in Virginia," NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson said. "These summits are a great opportunity to discuss the most current issues and to share ideas about how to help credit union members achieve the American dream."
