HERNDON, Va. — Kids are key participants at many credit union member appreciation days, but most especially at the $1.5 billion Northwest Federal Credit Union where members' younger children especially enjoyed the duck pond game.
The credit union, which serves the employees of the Central Intelligence Agency as well as other government agencies and private employers, gave members free hot dogs, popcorn and ice cream; member gifts and door prizes to local retailers and a chance to win a portable DVD player.
The CU also held seminars for members to explain its products and services, these included the CU Realty home rebate program, a financial fitness program, an auto locating service and Northwest Services, LLC Investment and Insurance Services.

The credit union also featured a Mortgage EXPO for members to consult with local real estate professionals, home inspector and appraiser. This one-stop mortgage shop offered information on the credit union's 1% cash rebate program for buyers and sellers along with on-the-spot mortgage pre-approvals.
"This day is a celebration of our most important asset, our members," said Gerianne Burks, Northwest's chief operating officer. "I am thrilled to see such a fantastic turnout; this event is our way of saying 'thank you' to our members and showing them how much we appreciate their continued support."
More than 400 members turned out for the April 29 event, which was only the CU's second and was held on a Saturday. –[email protected]
