MEMPHIS — Memphis Area Teachers' Credit Union helped make teacher orientation a little more exciting for new Lakeview Elementary third grade teacher Camille Patterson. Patterson was the lucky winner of a television that was given away at the Memphis City Schools New Teacher Orientation, compliments of the credit union. Patterson attended the orientation held at Craigmont Middle School along with over 350 new Memphis City School teachers. The orientation is designed to give new employees information that will aid in a smooth transition into their new career. New teachers were given a choice of training sessions to attend over a two-day period. As sponsor of the event, in addition to the giveaway, MATCU hosted a training session entitled: "Building a Better Credit Score."
"Participating in this event upholds MATCU's mission to provide financial education on an ongoing basis to the community," said MATCU President/CEO Carlos Webb. "When financing a big ticket item, someone with a higher credit score will get a better finance rate, and that can have a huge impact on the total price of an item. We want to arm teachers with knowledge that can improve their financial future."
