TAMPA, Fla. — Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union will spend the next six months rolling out new authentication security tools to the 401,000-member CU's online members.
Suncoast Schools has contracted with RSA Security for the firm's Adaptive Authentication solution and will introduce it in stages over the next 26 weeks, according to Karen Burns, vice president of e-business for the $5.2 billion CU.
RSA Security's site-to-user, two-factor authentication technology requires members to choose a unique image whose appearance on the Web site assures the member that the site is real and not a phishing scheme.

The credit union also will use RSA Security's risk-analysis engine, which examines each transaction and raises the level of authentication required accordingly, ranging from secret questions all the way to a phone call.
"Our online transaction environment will assure members that they are protected, encouraging growth in online access to our services," Burns says. About 30% of Tampa-based Suncoast School's members are online users.
RSA Security is based in Massachusetts and serves more than 21,000 financial services customers around the world, including many of the largest banks and credit unions.
